Appearance: multiwall ->
fibrous black powder.
singlewall -> cloth-like deposits.
The highly ordered structures of carbon nanotubes along with their
extremely small size have attracted much attention from a broad
community.
Areas of interest include composites, field emitters, electronic
devices, gas adsorption, catalyst support, templating , among
others.
Typically, the nanotubes contain other structures such as carbon
polyhedral. For singlewall tubes, residual catalytic material
exist. The tubes are opened by chemical methods.
Characterization is provided by transmission electron microscopy.
